METHODOLOGY
How OAV™ Prices the Market
Every vehicle on OAV™ carries a pricing label — Under, At, or Over the Market. This page explains exactly how that label is calculated: what data we use, how comparables are selected, and where the thresholds are set. No black box. No guesswork.
DAILY INVENTORY REFRESH
~6 million listings ingested every 24 hours
Data last updated: daily — inventory refreshed every 24 hours — roughly 6 million listings across 5.5 million unique vehicles from dealerships nationwide.

What we measure
OAV™ analyzes live dealer-listed vehicle inventory across the United States and compares each listing against a set of regional comparables to determine whether a vehicle is priced competitively. Every data point reflects active retail listings — not private-party values, auction wholesale prices, or book values.

Where the data comes from
Listing data is sourced through licensed third-party inventory feeds and refreshes in real time as dealers update, add, or remove vehicles. OAV™ contextualizes that data — it does not originate it. This is the same infrastructure-grade inventory used daily by floor plan lenders, financial institutions, and dealer groups across the nation. OAV™ makes it accessible to every buyer.
STANDARDIZED ACROSS EVERY SOURCE
Patented normalization across thousands of dealer formats
Dealer inventory arrives from thousands of independent websites in thousands of different formats. OAV™’s patented standardization technology (U.S. Patent No. 12,236,477) normalizes every listing into a single canonical schema — make, model, trim, year, mileage, price, drivetrain, geography.
This means a Ford F-150 in Dallas is directly comparable to a Ford F-150 in Denver, regardless of how each dealer originally formatted its listing. This is the step that makes everything else possible, and it’s why financial firms, floor plan lenders, and multi-rooftop dealer groups treat OAV™ as infrastructure-grade vehicle data.

What OAV™ does not publish

We publish what the data says. We don’t publish how the math works.
Data accuracy & corrections OAV™ data reflects listings as published by dealers through licensed inventory feeds, updated daily. If you identify a listing that appears incorrect or outdated, contact support@oav.io. Confirmed data errors are reviewed and addressed within 24 hours.

FAQs
Common questions
Does "overpriced" mean the vehicle is a bad buy?
Not necessarily. It means comparable vehicles are available at lower prices in the current market. The vehicle may still sell — but buyers have leverage to negotiate, and dealers should be aware of where they stand.
How often is the market data updated?
OAV™ pulls live data from auction and retail sources continuously. Price ratings reflect current market conditions, not historical averages.
What if there are very few comparable vehicles?
When comparables are limited, the rating is shown with a lower confidence indicator. A single-data-point market is flagged clearly so users can interpret the rating with appropriate context.
Does the rating factor in condition, trim, or options?
The rating uses available listing data including year, make, model, and mileage. Condition and trim-level comparisons are shown in the full vehicle detail view within OAV™.
